The owner wanted to preserve the Edwardian exterior charm of this home, yet give the interior a fresh contemporary look. We selected oak hardwood floors, clean lines, flat finished walls and recessed lighting for many of the rooms. The gas fireplace blends seamlessly with the grey paneled living room wall, adding texture and flair to the room.
While keeping with a more traditional look, we updated and modernized the kitchen, bathrooms, and study. Additionally, we upgraded the floors and light fixtures throughout the home.
For this remodel, the homeowners approached us with a special challenge: to recreate a "floating staircase" that they had spotted in a design magazine. Based on this, we designed and built stairs by placing a steel beam inside the wall which supports each stair, making it appear as if it is floating. In the dining room, we added moment frames around the windows, refinished the wood floors and upgraded the light fixtures. The master bedroom suite was designed and built to maximize views and capture southern exposure.
